 Kenya is on the equator and it is dark from 6pm to 6am for 365 days of the year. The children who are fortunate enough to be receiving education start their days early, when they return from their schools they have to help with chores like collecting wood for the fires, helping with the livestock, helping with preparing the meal for the family, all before nightfall. When all of their jobs are completed they must do their studies, and in most homes these are done by kerosene lamps which cause many respiratory problems. |
