The History of Lights For Learning

We decided that it was time to try and register as a charity, however on the receipt of the pack from the Charities Commission , changed our minds. We were fortunate though in having an enthusiastic friend, Laurence Cole, who declared that he would also like to become involved in the idea, and took the administrative side of the ‘business’ on. We became a registered charity in April of 2004. We also decided that maybe we should try to protect the design in some manner, and successfully registered it with the Patent Office

The work is just beginning now. The funds need to start coming in so that we can achieve our aims. We have good contact with the Lions Club in Mombassa who are monitoring units being fitted. We have a ‘retired gentleman’ Chris Larking, who lives close by who is extremely active in helping with the construction of the lighting units, and is also developing the system to be used in field hospitals in this country.

The potential of the light units is endless, and who knows, may one day become worldwide!
